Welcome to the Scriptorium…

I have a recurring urge to write. Sometimes it comes from within. Other times it comes from a voice in my head saying “you should write these reflections down now or they may be gone forever”. By now it’s a pattern. Some type of blog site with a cringy name (Prisma Politica, Kandestøberiet, Ivory Tower Tapas...), an initial wave of written content, then a long period of hibernation and finally site shutdown. Rinse. Repeat.  

The positive thing is that I have progressively stopped caring. I have finally come to the realization that I need the writing for my very own purposes. It is cathartic. It makes me remember things better. It is fun. Unlike previous attempts at getting a small audience through “social media”, this time I am starting a blog without being active on any of those platforms. If a few friends read my musings, great. If not, I can have the joy of re-reading them again in some years.

Why Substack? Because it’s free. Because I can change the current cringy name from this one to another one in the future. Because it’s easy to just write.

What can you expect here? Mainly book reviews/reflections. Sprinkled in with some thoughts on history, politics, science and culture.
